So the district is known as the “ Cultural capital of Western Odisha”. The original name of the district was Baghar Kota. The city is also famous for its historical significance.

The city is also called the Rice Bowl of Odisha because of the paddy production. The district faces 28C temperature to 43C.

• Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary: One of Bargarh’s tourist attractions is the Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary. It is located close to the Hirakud Dam in the city of Sambalpur. Veer Surendra Sai, a freedom fighter who was allegedly captured here by British officials, used this location as his headquarters. The Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary is crucial for maintaining the habitats of a variety of native animals.
• Aapkhol: Aapkhol Waterfalls are 5 kilometers away from the waterfall. The landscape and waterfall’s journey are both enjoyable.
• Barapali Town: In the Indian state of Odisha, the Bargarh district includes the tiny town and block of Barpali. Famous Odia poet Swabhaba Kabi Gangadhar Meher, who was born in Barpali, is primarily responsible for the town’s fame.
• Hirakud Dam: In the state of Odisha, the Hirakud Dam Project is being constructed over the Mahanadi River, roughly 15 km upstream of Sambalpur. It is the world’s longest earthen dam.
• Gandhamardhan Hills: In the Indian state of Odisha, between the Balangir and Bargarh districts, there is a peak called Gandhamardan Parbat. There are several therapeutic plants on this slope. The mythology and the Gandhamardan Mountain are closely intertwined.
