Dhauli also known as Dhauli Giri Hills, is located on the bank of Daya River which is situated 8 km away from the capital city of Odisha, known as Bhubaneswar. Buddha Shanti Stupa also known as peace pagoda is one of the major attractions. Dhauli is the only witness of reform of Ashoka’s character. The war was so deadliest that Daya river’s water turned red with blood of soldiers because of the massacre which led to significant change in the beliefs of King Ashoka and then, he adopted Buddhism.
